The Department of Sociology is very pleased to announce the 2025-2026 competition winners for undergraduate student research grants. Each recipient will conduct their research through an independent study with their advisor during the spring 2026 and receive an award of $300.00

Zarah Ysabel Bancud will be working with Raja Staggers-Hakim on research titled, “Racism, Maladaptive Coping and Substance Use Disorder: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”

Michael Wynn will be working with Bhoomi Thakore on research titled, “Framing Victims and How Race and Gender Influence Media Coverage of Crime”

Eashwar Krishna will be working with Raja Staggers-Hakim on research titled, “Racism, Maladaptive Coping and Substance Use Disorder: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”
