B.Sc 2019, Sociology, Abia State Universty (ABSU)
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Nancy is a first generation Ph.D Student at the University of Connecticut. She holds a B.Sc in Sociology from Abia State University Uturu, Nigeria. During her undergraduate studies, She demonstrated impactful leadership by serving as the Vice President and subsequently the first Female Elected President of the Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Students’ Association NSASA.
Driven by a deep passion for social Justice and an unwavering drive for positive societal impact. Nancy’s interests lie at the intersection of Social movement, Political Sociolgy, Social Inequality, Gender, Human rights and Digital Technology. Her work will focus on investigating how marginalized groups in developing countries, (e.g in Nigeria), leverage digital technologies for social mobilization, aiming for academic understanding and scholarly contribution. She also intends to critically understudy misinformation, digital rights, digital abuse, digital inequality and state surveillance, aiming to foster a more ethical and “sane” digital world.
Nancy is a friendly individual, always open to learning new things and improving. She plans to employ a mixed-methods approach in her research and develop her research skills under the guidance of UConn esteemed faculty.
