Our Funds

Gifts to Sociology are used for undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, and for engagement activities like seminars, lectures, and community outreach. A gift may support an existing scholarship or fund, or it may create a new fund for current needs or an endowment to support programs into the future. Gifts may be made in honor of a faculty member or friend.

For questions about giving to the Department or establishing a new fund, please contact a CLAS development officer.

To make a gift via mail or securities, please visit the How to Give page on the UConn Foundation website.

22735 – Sociology Department

To be used for the unrestricted support of the Sociology Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

30012 – Janet M. Fierberg Fund in Sociology

To support the University by providing scholarship support for full-time students enrolled in the University.

30098 – Sociology Department Awards

To award a scholarship to a Sociology student for excellence in teaching or excellence in written contribution to the field of Sociology.

31340 – Drs. Arnold and Sandra W. Dashefsky Student Award for Excellence Endowment

To provide one or more scholarship awards to undergraduate and/or graduate students majoring in Sociology or related fields.

The Dashefsky Award was an affirmation of the research I was able to conduct in Poland on anti-blackness and racism.  The much needed funds and the intent behind the award itself is a testament that previous scholars here at UConn are making to future generations of scholars coming through UConn examining these fraught and needed subjects.
