David L. Weakliem
Professor of Sociology
| Biographical Statement:
I came to UConn in 1994 after teaching at Cornell University and (1987-91) Indiana University (1991-4). In 1995 I was a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and served as interim director of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research in 2004-6.
My major research interests are in political sociology (especially public opinion), social stratification, and quantitative methods. My main current project is a book tentatively entitled Model Selection and Hypothesis Testing in the Social Sciences, which examines classical and Bayesian approaches to hypothesis testing and various "information criteria" for model selection.
